Antique Crisford and Norris Sterling Silver Locket Pendant
The antique, polished sterling silver locket pendant is flattened and circular in shape. It has a hinged lid with a clip on the one side, that opens to reveal an inner chamber which could be used to enclose a keepsake or miniature photograph. It also has a fixed loop and hinged bale at the top. The locket is hallmarked on the interior for Birmingham, England, 1919, maker’s mark “C&N” for Crisford and Norris. Crisford and Norris was a firm of manufacturing silversmiths, active from 1896-1959, when it was acquired by Ward Brothers (Birmingham) Ltd. The business premises of Harold Crisford and William Clement Norris were located at 117-118 Vyse Street in the heart of the Birmingham jewellery quarter, where they produced high quality luxury pieces.
