Antique Butterfly Wing Screw-on Earrings by Thomas L Mott

The antique, screw-on, silver stud earrings have hand painted scenes, on the inside of the glass covers, against a “Morpho” tropical butterfly wing. The earrings are marked “TLM; STERLING; ENGLAND”, which shows that they were made by English silversmith Thomas L Mott.

The Thomas L. Mott company, formed in 1875 in England, is known to vintage jewellery collectors as the maker who popularized the "Butterfly Wing" style of jewellery in the 1920s.
