Large Alex Hyslop Sterling Silver, Turquoise, Sapphire and Carnelian Earrings

The pair of large, handcrafted, sterling silver earrings are composed of three hinged sections, graduating in size. The first section is attached to a fixed shepherd’s hook, has a solid silver back, and is claw-set with an oval, cabochon-polished carnelian gemstone (11.5mm x 8.3mm, circa 3ct each); the second section has an open-work silver back, and is claw-set with an oval, cabochon-polished blue sapphire gemstone (opaque, heavily included, 17.5mm x 12.0mm, circa 12ct each); the third section has an open-work silver back, and is claw-set with an oval cabochon-polished turquoise gemstone (19.8mm x 14.6mm, circa 18ct each). The earrings were made by Alex Hyslop, a contemporary South African custom jeweller, currently based in Somerset West. The earrings are stamped “ZA” in an oval cartouche and “925”.
