The vintage, Modernist, handcrafted, sterling silver ring has a broad, tapering shank that is surmounted by a flat, square Transvaal jade gemstone (a type of green grossularite garnet found in Southern Africa; circa 13mm x 13mm; 15ct). The ring is attributed to Leah Mehmed. Leah Mehmed lived and worked in Johannesburg, and was apprenticed to her friend, jeweller Egon Guenther (1921-2015). Provenance: the ring is from the collection of Ruth Barrett, Leah Mehmet’s daughter.
