18ct Gold Green Tourmaline and Diamond Ring by John Klynsmith          

The modern 18ct yellow gold dress ring has a joined double shank at the back, which splits at the front to form an open, diamond-shaped head. A step(emerald)-cut, deep-green, natural tourmaline (approximately 15.3mm x 10.2mm x circa 6.5mm – circa 8.8ct; deep-green; eye-clear) is claw-set into the opening. The tourmaline is flanked by two round, brilliant-cut, claw-set diamonds weighing approximately 0.20ct in total.  The ring is marked “18CT” and “KLYNSMITH”. This shows that it was designed and made by the late John Klynsmith, a prominent South African jeweller.
