The modern sterling silver drop earrings have pins and butterflies and they are hinged with a tear-drop shaped element attached to the pin and a round element hinged to it. The upper section, of each, is tube-set with a pear-shaped, cabochon-polished amethyst (7.5mm x 5.5mm – c1.5ct total) and the lower portion has a round, cabochon-polished amethyst (approximately 5.5mm diameter– circa 1.0ct total) tube-set into a round surround. The earrings have rubbed “925” marks, and test to be sterling silver. The butterflies are marked “925”.
