Sterling Silver and Amber Necklace
The modern sterling silver necklace is made up of a silver tongue-and-groove clasp, tube-set with a slightly triangular, cabochon polished amber (approximately 28.5mm x 27mm – circa 14ct; deep honey-coloured with some inclusions), and three stands of deep honey-coloured, somewhat irregular round-to-oval, flattened, amber beads. The strand’s lengths are 41.5cm (37 beads – 10-12mm long x 8-9mm wide x 4-5mm thick); 43cm (32 beads 10-13mm long x 10-11mm wide x 4.5 – 5.5mm thick); 44.5cm (42 beads – 9-10mm long x 7-9mm wide x 5-6mm thick) respectively. The clasp is marked “925; G LTD (for Goldmajor Ltd)” and has a London silver import mark.
